Samaria Gorge:
Pathway
42 Km south of Chania is one of the most spectacular National parks
in Europe , Samaria Gorge. At 18 Km long it is the longest gorge
in Europe and at certain points along its length the rock walls
rise to 300m yet are only 3m apart. The gorge was used during the
war to evade enemy forces but is now inhabited by the rarely seen “Kri-Kri”,
a type of chin bearded goat known as an “ibex”. Samaria
Gorge is certainly one of the best sights to see on Crete.
