Moni Ipsilou:
Monastery
The Monastery of Ipsilos is otherwise known as Moni Ipsilou, and
is located a short distance away from Eressos on Lesvos. The Byzantine
monastery is about 500m above sea level and has a history of attacks
from the Turks. Recently in the 1960’s, there was a great
fire at the monastery and many parts of the structure were unfortunately
destroyed, however, some restoration work on the monastery is
now underway.
