The main attraction at Chora is certainly the Monastery of St
John that sits on the highest point in Chora and can be seen from
miles away. There are local myths that Zeus gave the island of
Patmos to his daughter, the goddess Artemis, and that the Monastery
was built upon her temple to further worship her.
