Kalamaki:
Beach
Kalamaki is roughly 15 minutes drive from the capital Zakynthos
Town and is situated on the coast of the Laganas Gulf. Kalamaki
beach is also a nesting ground for the shy Loggerhead Turtles
who lay their eggs 30-50ft in from the shore. Because of this
Kalamaki is part of a wildlife reserve set up to protect the
species from extinction, and care must be taken when walking
along the beach not to disturb any nests. Water sports and other
usual beach activities are still possible, and when you wish
to relax there are a number of restaurants, tavernas, and bars.
