Cove: Shipwreck
Zante's most famous landmark must certainly be the shipwreck
at Smuggler’s Cove. Surrounded by 100m high cliffs there
are many theories surrounded the ship about how it ended up in
the cove. Allegedly wrecked in 1982 carrying contraband cigarettes,
there are locals who suggest that the Greek Ministry of Tourism
placed it there. However unlikely all the stories seem, the shipwreck
retains the sightseeing number one position, on the island.
