Vassilikos:
Beach bay
Vassilikos is located on the south east peninsula of the island,
around 30 minutes drive from Zakynthos Town. Essentially a beach
resort, Vassilikos is also a nesting ground for the shy Loggerhead
Turtles who lay their eggs 50ft in from the shore. Because of
this Vassilikos is part of a wildlife reserve set up to protect
the species from extinction, and care must be taken when walking
along the beach not to disturb any nests. However, this does
not limit in any way the usual activities enjoyed on a beach
holiday, and Vassilikos is also a favourite destination for nudists,
who congregate at the far end of the bay.
