Zakynthos
Town: Port
The capital of Zante is Zakynthos Town. After an earthquake in
1953, the town was rebuilt with great care being given to preserve
the original Venetian and Byzantine feel. Often referred to as
'The Venice of the South' Zakynthos Town is the main commercial
and cultural hub of the island and the population is around 30,000.
There are a number of museums such as The Museum of Byzantine
Art in Solomou Sq.
